mashed avocado works for dry skin.
The easiest recipe i know for dry skin is with your night cream. First put on a big amount on your face and after that cover your face with already prepared nylon foil and on that put a very hot towel. Leave it for 30 minutes and after that massage the cream in to the face and leave it to absorb itself.

Just get natural yoghurt and apply it to ur face and neck everyday. Leave it on till it dries. Mind that u r not sitting in a room with a fan or the AC on. Let it dry naturally. then rinse it off. Do this for a week or so and u'll see definite changes. Yoghurt is not only good for moisturising the skin but it is also a toner as well as a cleanser for the face. U'll have smoother skin in a few weeks.
Talk about an all-purpose recipe! This delicious, healthful smoothie not only tastes great (and looks very Valentine-y), it can also be applied to your face, where the alpha-hydroxy acid-rich ingredients will smooth and soften your skin. Gives a whole new meaning to the word “smoothie!”
The recipe makes enough for a good-sized drink as well as a generous masque for beautifying winter-tired skin!
INGREDIENTS
¼ cup low-fat plain yogurt
½ cup low-fat milk
1 cup fresh or frozen raspberries
1 cup raspberry sorbet
1.Combine all ingredients in a blender; blend to desired consistency.
2. Pour yourself a glassful to enjoy.
3. Apply the remainder to your face, massaging gently into the skin. Allow mask to remain on for several minutes before rinsing with warm water.
4. Gently towel face dry

ooh i love to answer this one. i am Miss Dry Skin that too from a tropical country like India.
i do this once a week and maybe 2-3 times during winter.
take some sandalwood powder, add honey, and curd (pure additives free yogurt - preferably the top real creamy layer)
drops of rose water to make it into a finer paste
and a few strands of saffron for that little extra.
make sure you face is clean and w/o makeup .
Use it like a mask and let it dry off ( takes about 15-20 mins)
and wash it off with warm /tepid water. dont scratch it off
massage your face while your are washing it off.
works like wonder :)

Oatmeal and mayo, not Miracle Whip, will make a wonderful mask.
I don't know what you have around your house but I would make mine out of glycerin. I always have a bottle at home. If your in a pinch, use olive oil. Pour a tad bit in the palm of your hands rub together then pat on your face, massage lightly and evenly. Baby oil, mineral oil will also work. After showers, before I dry off I coat my arms and legs with baby oil, then I dry off. The oil locks the moisture from the shower into my skin.
Plain yogurt! Top ranked moisturizers include Olay complete.

i normally seek help from this site for home remedies. Check out the reader's tip and discussion for more home made receipies too that are tried out by others around the world (hence, supposedly safe and works well).
Yet i would suggest it is best to look up at other sites and be sure of the resources before trying anything out. Plus not all remedies work the same with everyone since the cause of dry skin varies from person to person. Be experimental.
