In the movie Mrs. Doubtfire starring Robin Williams how do they make his mask?

I know they used plaster, but how exactly does the process work? Do people dip their head in plaster? If so, how do they breathe while they wait for the plaster to dry?In the movie Mrs. Doubtfire starring Robin Williams how do they make his mask?
They use this stuff called alginate. It's like plaster but dries very quickly. They usually won't cover the nostrils or, if the mold can take it, a tube in the person's mouth, so she/he can breathe. Then they'll make a positive mold of the face from that first one. After that, build up the positive mold with clay until it looks like the artist wants it to look, cast another mold from that. Then, using the original positive of the face and the most recent negative, the make-up artist will inject foam latex into the mold, bake it for a while to create the prosthetic pieces that are ultimately used on the face.In the movie Mrs. Doubtfire starring Robin Williams how do they make his mask?
i dunno...good question
Wish they WOULD dip Williams' head in plaster...and keep it there... I can't stand that idiot.

But I'm not sure how they do that. If it was up to me, I'd pour molten bronze over his head to make a model that we then use to make the mask
