I can't see how a homemade mask would give you ';more skin color'; - most masks are usually for getting impurities out of your skin.





A good mask that's very cheap and excellent for exfoliating problem skin:





4-6 crushed aspirin (you can buy a bottle of regular aspirin at your local dollar store)


Water


Honey (optional)





Crush the aspirin into a very fine powder (I use a mortar and pestle but you can also use a plastic bag and a rolling pin). Put the aspirin powder in a small bowl and add a very small amount of water, enough to make a paste. Add a little honey if you have it available, making sure to keep the consistency thick. After washing your face with a gentle cleanser, apply the mask to your face, avoiding your eyes and mouth. Leave on until the mask dries - you will feel your skin tighten as it dries. Rinse off with warm water - as you rinse, lightly scrub your skin with the mask to get in some nice exfoliation. Follow up with a good moisturizer.





What it does: the aspirin contains salicylic acid, which is used in many acne medications to dry out the acne. Honey is naturally anti-bacterial.





A good scrub:


1 teaspoon sugar


Foaming facial wash - Cetaphil is good but any facial wash that gets foamy and bubbly is good too.





Put the sugar in a small bowl. Add a small amount of facial wash to the sugar and stir with your finger until mixed - it should have a grainy consistency. Get your face wet, then use the mixture to wash your face.





What it does: the sugar naturally scrubs your face clean and washes away easily. You can make a larger batch in a plastic container with a lid and keep it in the shower for use as a body scrub.
